INTERCITY PASSENGER RAIL $1.9 Billion for State Capital Investment Grants FY $325 Million for Congestion Capital Grants FY 2010-FY 2013 (States and/or Amtrak) 80/20 Federal/State Cost Share

$1.5 Billion over 5 Years to States and/or Amtrak to develop high- speed rail (110 mph) Directs DOT to conduct RFP to develop, build and operate high- speed rail systems in 11 corridors, including NEC from Washington, DC to NYC $5 million for preliminary engineering for the best approach in each corridor HIGH SPEED RAIL

FUTURE FUNDING FY 2010 President Obama’s Budget includes $1 Billion per year for next 5 years House Appropriations Transportation Subcommittee  $4 Billion HSR/IPR  $40 million Rail Line Relocation  $1.48 Billion Amtrak Surface Transportation Authorization Act  $50 billion over 6 years  Rail Relocation funding  RRIF Loan Program

AASHTO VISION Authorize $35 billion for capital grant program – equipment and infrastructure $13 billion for the Northeast Corridor State of Good Repair Authorize $55 million annually for High Speed Rail Highway-Rail grade crossing safety grants Provide dedicated, guaranteed funding for High Speed/Intercity Passenger Rail capital infrastructure
