Argentina: “The system is useful as well for moving forward requests for assistance in criminal matters, sending complementary information within said requests (…) Time after time, it has been possible to present documentation for an extradition process within established time frames … thanks to using the system.” Source: Survey of Network Users 2009, OAS. Canada: “The system has been useful in cases where Canada wished to explore the possibility of successfully obtaining extradition from one of its treaty partners… More generally, with respect to other requests, the System also provided easy access to the coordinates of the relevant personnel in the other State…” Panama: “In an important request regarding a sensitive case, important information was missing. In order not to reject the request, through Groove [Secure Component of the Network], we were able to obtain from the Requesting State the corrections needed and clarified doubts with the authority instituting the proceedings. By using the system, it was possible to get this assistance.”

Source: Survey of Network Users 2009, OAS. Paraguay: “…we have had many successful coordination cases regarding controlled deliveries, ransom kidnappings, trafficking in persons, drug trafficking, extradition, etc. that have had a successful outcome due to the use of this OAS tool. Many times, information is exchanged to those asking for it and this tool is very useful for those purposes.” Uruguay: “The system was very useful for extradition requests and requests for seizure and freezing of funds. It has been possible to receive beforehand the formal request for extradition before the time frame expired on a preventive arrest, which if carried out through other means, in some cases, would not have been possible … As well, the systems is used not only at the moment a request is made, but in also in following-up the cases.”

Source: Survey of Network Users 2008, OAS. México: “The use of the system has allowed us to radically increase the speed in sending Mutual Legal Assistance Requests and follow-up these requests with the same coordinating authorities…it has become a very useful tool for the exchange of information.” Brazil: “In many occasions, the Central Authority of Brazil requested information using the points of contacts in the Criminal Matters Network about the execution of specific requests or legislation in other member States. In most of the cases, the system proved to be efficient. The Central Authority of Brazil uses the contacts in the Network as its main source of information in regards to Central Authorities in the other OAS member states.”
