AGENDA Building a Better U Together Cultural Journey Update New Day Common Purpose DIRECCT Values Discussion

Listen Faculty and staff participate in surveys and focus groups. More thank 2,500 faculty and staff share their feedback about their UM experience. UM Leaders embark on culture shaping journey to systematically shape the culture. The culture leadership team is established to lead the effort. Understand Survey results reflect key areas of focus: leadership effectiveness, service excellence, and effective communications. Define The University’s common purpose and values are defined to serve as a guidebook for our daily interactions, conversations and actions. Work Work teams launched to address: leadership effectiveness, recruitment and retention, training, care, and service. Share Town Halls held with leaders to discuss common purpose, values and behaviors. In April, the first-ever leadership forum is held with more than 1,000 leaders from across the University. Work teams meet and make recommendations to the CLT.

New Day For Leaders This session introduces Leaders to concepts and informatio n that drive Service Excellence, Leadershi p Traits and Behaviors, and Organizati onal Change. P articipant s will learn about the U’s journey of Culture Transform ation, and the importanc e of a positive workplace culture. New Day Leadership Coaching for Service and Recognition This highly interacti ve session is focused on helping Leaders increase their skill and awarenes s aroun d communic ation and coaching the teams they lead. COURSE CONTENT The U’s Roadmap to Success Leadership Traits and Behaviors, and how these can help Leaders be more effective in leading their teams Service Standards and Behaviors and how to use them to provide a consistent level of service Values and Behaviors of the U, and how these should drive our interactions Our Common Purpose and the difference between the tasks we are hired to do versus the purpose we all share at the U COURSE CONTENT Communication – its importance in the workplace and barriers to effective communication The importance of effective Coaching and Feedback for the people you lead Service Scenario Role- Play in building your skill at providing effective coaching and feedback Care and its importance to driving desired performance from your team How to lead culture transformation in your area How to lead effective one to one and team meetings
