“Grammar casino” “Grammar casino” Welcome to the grammar casino. If you want to check your students’ understanding of grammar this kind of game will be funny and effective for them. They can improve not only their writing skills by finding mistakes from the sentences, but also speaking skills by correcting them. This is suitable for every grades depending on the content, even it is possible to use for the other kinds of subjects. (For ex: in the category of Geography: The blue whale is the biggest animal in the world. Math: 4*3=15 etc) The way of this game is just like True or False. But this is more active and effective way to check or summarize.

Needed materials Choose the group color 1 st group should choose red points which should be nd group should choose pink points which should be rd group should choose blue points which should be Each colored points would be 5. Also the groups need to have 2 kinds of following smileys. 10 from each one. Game sheet for each group. Striped sentences

Introduction The group starts with one 100 points Students read 10 sentences one by one. Students decide if the sentence is grammatically correct or if there is a mistake. If the sentence is fine, the student put “ ” in the box under “Good”. If there is a mistake in the sentence, the student put “ ” in the box under ‘No good.' The students then put their Bet on the bet line. If they are confident, they can bet a lot. If they aren't so confident, they can bet a little. ( generally require a minimum bet of 10 points.) Teacher says correct answer. They can check to see if they were correct. If they were correct, they add their bet to their point total. If they were wrong, they subtract their bet from their point total. Continue to the next problem and repeat. The group with the most points at the end of the game is the winner.

In conclusion I used this game for the 11 th and 8 th grade students. They were very active and competitive; therefore they asked me to play again. I noticed that it is useful to use for checking their understanding instead of taking exam sometimes. During the game if the group lose all of their points, they can lend 100 points from the other group. But at the end of the game they have to give back two times more. That’s why they try to understand teacher’s explanation during the lesson to be real contestants next class. Thanks for your attention English Teacher: Tuyasaikhan.G
