Table of Contents Chapter 1: Introduction Chapter 2: Softball Safety Chapter 3: Getting Started Chapter 4: Hitting Chapter 5: Catching Chapter 6: Who Plays Softball Glossary

Chapter 1: Introduction Do you know anything about softball? Well if you don't, This is the right book for you. I think softball is a great hobby. But you can’t do it all the time, only in the spring, fall and summer if you have a team. Softball is like any other sport, it is tricky when you start. It is a great sport

Chapter 2:Softball Safety You might think safety isn't that important but it really is. You need a helmet, mitt and proper pants are optional. Lots of things can happen to you while playing softball. You can swing back instead of going forward and hit your head. You should have a helmet. You need a mitt because your hand would really hurt if you didn’t have a mitt. A really fast ball going straight to your hand would really hurt.

Chapter 3:Getting Started To get started you will first have to have gear. There is no way you can play without gear. You have to have a team you just have to have one. Most of the time there is 12 people on each team. You need a team to play you. You need a place to play. Baseball diamonds are a great choice. You can find them at most schools. Now play, its so much fun!

Chapter 4:Hitting Some people say hitting is so hard, but really it is not. You will need a bat not like the animal bat a baseball bat. You can get them at any sporting goods store. How to hit is very easy when the ball comes to you, put the bat back but don’t hit your head, make sure your swing is level and when the ball comes to you hit it. Hopefully you will hit a home run!

Chapter 5:Catching Catching is really pretty easy when you think about it. First, you need a mitt. When a person throws the ball to you, you lift up your mitt and run to get yourself in a straight line to the ball. Then watch the ball go into the mitt. When the ball goes into your mitt quickly put your hand over the ball so it doesn't fall out. Catching is going to be hard in the beginning, but you will soon get the hang of it.

Chapter 6: Who Plays Softball Who plays softball? All girls can play softball. Softball is like baseball but for girls. It is really fun way to stay fit. You can just grab a couple of friends and hit some balls. If you are bored just ask your mom or dad to throw a couple of balls to you. Did you know not just girls play softball, older men play too! Everyone can play softball.

Glossary Softball– a sport with rules like baseball Team– a group of people that play a sport Mitt– a thing you catch with Bat– something you hit a ball with Helmet– something you wear on your head so you don’t get hurt
