9th ITPA Confinement Database and Modelling Topical Physics Group meeting in St. Petersburg 1/5 NF paper on H-mode confinement DB3 Darren McDonald

9th ITPA Confinement Database and Modelling Topical Physics Group meeting in St. Petersburg 2/5 Aims and overview Paper describes updates to and analysis of DB3 from 1994 – Data from 18 machines of different sizes and shapes. DB now contains D-T, low A, dim. Scan… data + more data from range of divertors and high , n and I p. Physics: shape, fuelling, core and edge, dimensionless parameters, comparison with 1d transport codes Statistics: error estimates, EIV, reducing correlations Key aim of DB is ITER predictions: recommended scalings

9th ITPA Confinement Database and Modelling Topical Physics Group meeting in St. Petersburg 3/5 1.Introduction 2.Changes to DB3 (Machine descriptions) 3.DB3: subsets, errors, condition 4.  E power law scalings (OLS, EIV,  *) 5.Two term models 6.Other models: offsets, other vars, … 7.ITER: scalings, intervals 8.Conclusion A.Summary of new variables + link to website Structure
