Romeo and Juliet

Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life; Whose misadventur'd piteous overthrows Doth with their death bury their parents' strife.

"Any obstacle of love only enhances it.."

Juliet It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night Like a rich jewel in an Ethiop's ear- Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear! So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows As yonder lady o'er her fellows shows.

Romeo A bears him like a portly gentleman, And, to say truth, Verona brags of him To be a virtuous and well-govern'd youth.

From forth the fatal loins of these two foes…

A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life...

Whose misadventur'd piteous overthrows Doth with their death bury their parents' strife....

In modern Verona there are two buildings of the 13th century, probably belonging to the famous Veronese families Montague and the Capulet's. Via Arch Scaliger is a decrepit old palace, which has long been considered like the House of Romeo.

Juliet’s Club The main part of the Club are Juliet’s secretaries, who respond to messages received from all of the world.

Juliet’s statue In 1972, in the courtyard of Juliet's House, was set a bronze figure of the heroine, created by the Veronese sculptor Nero Constantine. Some people believe that touching the Statue brings luck in love.

"And even at this day the tomb is to be seen, So that among the monuments that in Verona been, There is no monument more worthy of the sight, Then is the tomb of Juliet and Romeo her night." The final of Arthur Brooke's poem The Tragically History of Romeo and Juliet 1562

For never was a story of more woe Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.
