Romeo and Juliet, 80’s Style Kai Schwennicke

Setting We did scene 4 They are in a street near the Capulet house, going to the Capulet party. They are in a procession with people caring torches and wearing masks. Romeo and his two friends Mercutio and Benvolio have sneaked into the procession.

What is Happening Romeo has doubts about going to the party. He is heart broken because Rosaline doesn’t love him back. He also had a dream that something bad is going to happen at the party. Mercutio jokes around with Romeo to try to lift his spirits. Mercutio also gives a long explanation about dreams being stupid and fantasy. Benvolio keeps interrupting them. He is excited for the party and doesn’t want to be late.

Examples of Dialog Changes What, shall this speech be spoke for our excuse? Or shall we on without apology? Dude should we let them know our posse is coming, or should we just crash the party? Shakespeare's Time The 80 ’

More Dialog Changes The date is out of such prolixity. We’ll have no Cupid hoodwinked with a scarf, bearing a Tartar’s painted bow of lath, scaring the ladies like a crow keeper; Nor no without-book prologue, faintly spoke after the prompter, for out entrance; but let them measure us by what they will, we’ll measure them a measure, and be gone. It’s to late to give them the 411. We’re not going to make a lame scene when we show up. I don’t care if some dudes bagin on us. We’re just going to bust some moves, and then we’ll jam.
