The North Carolina Positive Behavior Intervention and Support Initiative is part of the North Carolina State Improvement Program funded through IDEA.

PBIS is an effective and proactive process for improving social competence and academic achievement for all students.

PBIS vs. Traditional Student Support PBIS Brings all aspects of students support together Academic and behavior support through a tiered intervention model. Focuses on teaching, reinforcing and modeling consistent expectations Incorporates rewards as well as consequences Flexible to meet the needs of individual students or groups Data Driven Traditional Student support is loosely related between academic and behavioral needs Focuses on consistent consequences for undesired behaviors Rewards are not necessarily a focus

Global Education Education that opens peoples eyes and minds to the realities of the globalized world and awakens them to bring about a world of greater justice, equity and Human Rights for all. NC was selected as the first state in the nation to launch the Global Schools Network.

Questions/Comments Q. AIG parents are concerned with teachers being able to provide AIG students advanced content and a faster pace while being in a heterogeneous grouping. A. 1) The administrative team will follow BCS scheduling plan for AIG: 1) a minimum of 8 AIG students in math/reading classes; 2) up to 60% of the class is AIG; 3) those students clustered w/ other high achieving students. Q. Koontz parent concerns about the transition for 6th graders coming from Koontz into 7th grade at CCMS. A. 1)In the spring of this school year, CCMS administration and the 7th grade counselor will visit Koontz and these students. 2) These students will be provided a tour and a parent/student orientation. 3) We are in the planning stages of a 6th grade social for our current 6 th graders and Koontz 6th graders that are entering CCMS for 7th grade. 4) Meet Your Teacher day is scheduled before the first day of school that will allow these students the opportunity to learn their schedule, locker combination, and supply needs.
