Presentation transcript:

Objective: To define tone as a literary term and be able to use it as an aid against Metrophobia.

Your ideas Literary definition: Tone is the writer's attitude toward the material and/or readers. Tone may be playful, formal, intimate, angry, serious, etc. Look for key words within the text to determine tone. Ex: rage, love, quick, black, dark, bright.

Feelings do not come in primary colors. They often blend and mix together. Lightning Color Q and A.

Take out a piece of paper. Listen to each of the 2 poems and write down key words that call out to you. Based on those words, make a decision on the tone of each piece.

Pair up and read the poem handed out to you. Jot down key words within the text that you both agree speak to the overall tone of the poem. Come to an agreement on the tone with your key words as evidence. You have 5 minutes!

Thank you for all your participation!!
