KURUGUAY (HYMENEA PARVOFOLIA) Dark red with many subtle shades. Difficult to cut, to plane and to nail. JATOBA (HYMENAEA COURBARIL) Other names: (BRAZIL): FARINHEIRO Salmon red or dark orange when freshly sawn, then becomes dark red. Difficult to cut and plane, but after planing, the timber takes on a very good appearance Grain: Medium-coarse Density at 15% M.C.: 890 kg/m3 – Very heavy wood Compression strength: High - 810 kg/cm2 at 15% M.C. Dimensional stability: Good Static Flexion (at 15% M.C.): very high resistance (yielding point = 1660 kg/cm2) Durability of timber in ground contact: Good Moisture Content: USA: under 6% – E.U: 8% +/-2% – ASIA: 12% +/-2%

LAPACHO (TEBEBUJA) Other names (BRAZIL): IPE Greenish brown with yellowish shades. After planing the timber takes on a very good appearance, but processing is extremely difficult because machinery blades suffer high rate of wear. Very difficult to nail. Fine grained, very hard and compact. SUCUPIRA AMARELA (FERREIRA SPECTABILIS) Other names: TAPERYVA Brown with yellow-greenish shades. Light yellowish brown with a beautiful grain design similar to feathers, quite heavy and resistant. Easy to cut, after planing, the timber takes on a very good appearance. Difficult to nail Grain: Medium-coarse Density at 15% M.C.:950/1000 m3 – Very heavy wood Compression strength: High – 750 kg/cm2 at 15% M.C. TATAJYVA (CHLOROPHORA TINCTORIA) Lemon yellow to orange yellow. Very difficult to cut, kiln-dry, machine, plane and nail.
