Building and Engaging your Audience Thank you for being here… I look forward to our discussion

“All of us should ask ourselves if the people we meet can feel the warmth of our faith and see the joy of our encounter with Christ!” Pope Francis, October 14, 2013 – New Evangelization Pontifical Council

And the “good news” of your parish or organization…. So that your followers can share the good news too. Share THE Good News

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH…. It’s still BIG and seems to be here to stay…

How is Facebook different for Catholic parishes, schools or other organizations?

What is your goal for your Facebook page?

Our current goals: Get all of our Active parishioners that are Active on Facebook to like our page. Share content (Good News) that our followers will want to share with their circle of friends that lets them be Catholic… that lets them do the evangelizing.

Active? Don’t get discouraged… Be realistic about your parish numbers – registered parishioners vs active. Be realistic about the number of parishioners that are Active on Facebook – Facebook fatigue, teens. Be patient. Yes, let people know about your page, but should you do contests, give- aways or paid posts? Remember to stay connected to your page…

How I think we got to 883 Likes: 1.Slow and Steady 2.Number of Posts 3.Made mistakes…. 4.Very active Facebookers 5.Liking Comments 6.Responded to questions quickly 7.The Share question…

1. Slow and Steady

145 posts in 20 months That’s only 7.5 posts per month or a little more than one post per week… 2. Number of Posts

Thought Facebook was another platform for parish announcements… 3. Made Mistakes… Thought Facebook was a place to put links to build more traffic to our website.

4. Appeal to very active Facebookers with very active circles of friends…

5. Like comments every time. 6. Respond to questions quickly… notifications.

7.I ask the share question: What do people want to share about our parish or our faith this week?
