Technology and Your Child at Wake Forest Elementary

Everybody wants to know about Wake Forest Elementary’s new Acceptable Use Policy. Erin has raised some questions that you may have as well, so we are going to answer them tonight.

Question: What is my school going to do to keep me safe while I am using computers?

Answer: Wake Forest Elementary believes in ensuring the safety of all students by: Using structured web activities such as WebQuests WebQuests Using search engines such as Yahooligans and Ask Jeeves for Kids YahooligansAsk Jeeves for Kids Monitoring Internet use

Question: What do my teachers mean when they talk about “ethical use?”

Answer: This school feels that both teachers and students should practice ethical use by: Representing only their work as their own Respecting others’ property Obeying copyright lawscopyright laws

Question: My classroom has many different kinds of students. How can we make sure everyone gets a fair chance on the computers?

Answer: To make sure that diverse learners get a chance to use our school’s resources equally, we will: Post sign-up sheets at computers so that students have equal time slots Use technology such as eReader for students with diverse learning styleseReader Provide extra assistance to those with little technology background

Question: Does North Carolina have rules for technology?
