1PW The Punishment of the Wicked Are the wicked being punished in hell- fire now? 2 Peter 2:9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment,

1PW The Punishment of the Wicked The wicked are not being punished in hell-fire now, but are preserved in the grave (Job 21:29-32) until the Day of Judgment to be punished.

2PW The Punishment of the Wicked How much of the wicked’s body will go into hell-fire? Mark 9:43-48 “If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into fire that never shall be quenched --

2PW The Punishment of the Wicked 44- “where ‘Their worm does not die And the fire is not quenched.’ 45- “And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched “where ‘Their worm does not die And the fire is not quenched.’

2PW The Punishment of the Wicked When the wicked go into hell-fire, they go there alive in bodily form with all their members, two feet, two eyes, two hands, Rev. 19:20; Matt. 5:30).

3PW The Punishment of the Wicked What is the second death? Revelation 21:8 “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

3PW The Punishment of the Wicked The casting of the wicked into the kale of fire is the SECOND DEATH; therefore they will not be cast into hell-fire UNTIL THEY HAVE RECEIVED A SECOND LIFE IN THE SECOND RESURRECTION AT THE CLOSE OF THE 1,000 YEARS OF REVELATION 20.

4PW The Punishment of the Wicked When will the wicked taste the second death? Matthew 13:40-42 “Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it shall be at the end of this age.

4PW The Punishment of the Wicked 41- “The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42- “and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

4PW The Punishment of the Wicked So Jesus taught that the wicked, the tares, would not be cast into the furnace of fire until the end of the world. In Matt. 25:31-41, Jesus plainly teaches that the wicked will not go into everlasting fire until the last day, when He comes and all people are separated into two great classes, one on the right hand and the other on the left.

4PW The Punishment of the Wicked This separation will be at the close of the 1,000 year period when the righteous will all be inside the Holy City, Jerusalem; the wicked of tall ages will be on the outside of the Holy City.

5PW The Punishment of the Wicked Does hell exist today? Revelation 20:7-9 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison

5PW The Punishment of the Wicked 8- and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, God and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.

5PW The Punishment of the Wicked the camp of the saints and the beloved city 9- They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.

5PW The Punishment of the Wicked Hell, as a place of punishment, does not exist at the present time, but hell will be this earth turned into a great fire-ball at the close of the 1,000 years of Rev. 20 at the great Day of Judgment.

6PW The Punishment of the Wicked What will the wicked be doing when the fire falls? Zechariah 14:12 And this shall be the plague with which the LORD will strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem:

6PW The Punishment of the Wicked Their flesh shall dissolve while they stand on their feet, Their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, And their tongue shall dissolve in their mouths.

6PW The Punishment of the Wicked When the wicked are raised in the second resurrection at the end of the 1,000 years, they will come up in bodily form, and will march up to surround and capture if possible the New Jerusalem, which will then be resting upon the earth.

6PW The Punishment of the Wicked God will then rain down coals of fire on them, to punish them according to their sins. This fire will not perpetuate their existence, but will devour them and wipe them out of existence, Rev. 20:9.

7PW The Punishment of the Wicked Will the earth melt from the heat? 2 Peter 3: 10,13 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the havens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

7PW The Punishment of the Wicked promise, look for new heavens and a new earth 13- Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

7PW The Punishment of the Wicked In that day the dust of the earth will be turned into brimstone, the land wand the rivers into burning pitch. Thus the earth will be melted into a lake of fire, and when sin and sinners have been forever destroyed, God will make this molten mass into a perfect new earth.

7PW The Punishment of the Wicked The fact that this hell-fire into which the wicked are cast will be made into a sinless new earth is positive proof that the wicked will not and cannot burn to all eternity.

8PW The Punishment of the Wicked What is eternal fire? Jude 7 as Sodom and Gomorrha and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and going after strange flesh, are set forth for as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

8PW The Punishment of the Wicked The everlasting fire into which the wicked are cast will be this lake of fire. This does not mean (Matt. 25:41) that the fire will burn through all eternity, but rather that THE FIRE WILL BURN THEM UP EVERLASTINGLY. We have an example of eternal fire in the everlasting destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.

9PW The Punishment of the Wicked What is an unquenchable fire? Jeremiah 17:27 hallow “But if you will not heed Me to hallow the Sabbath day, such as not carrying a burden when entering the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in its gates, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.” ’ ”

9PW The Punishment of the Wicked To day the wicked will go into hell-fire that will never be quenched does not mean that the fire will burn through all eternity. But as in the case of the destruction of old Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar, the fire will not and cannot be put out until it has accomplished its work of destruction, 2 Chron. 36: are not symbols of eternal torment.

9PW The Punishment of the Wicked The never-quenched fire and undying worm that Jesus mentions in Mark 9:43-48 refer to the type of destruction of Jerusalem’s city dump: the Valley of Hinnom which the bodies of dead animals were cast. This word, “hell- fire” comes from the Greek word, “gehenna”, or Valley of Hinnom, where the bodies of dean animals were cast on the city dump to be devoured by worms and fire.

9PW The Punishment of the Wicked Jesus took this as an illustration of what that final lake of fire will do for the wicked at the end of the 1,000 years of Revelation 20. The never-quenched fire and undying worm are symbols of utter destruction, and are not symbols of eternal torment.

10PW The Punishment of the Wicked What is the final disposition of the wicked? Malachi 4:1-3 “For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble.

10PW The Punishment of the Wicked And the day which is coming shall burn them up,” Says the LORD of hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor branch. fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings 2- But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves.

10PW The Punishment of the Wicked 3- You shall trample the wicked; For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet On the day that I do this,” Says the LORD of hosts. The wicked will be destroyed and reduced to ashes.

11PW The Punishment of the Wicked What happens to those who do not receive eternal life? John 3:16 His only begotten Son Him “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

11PW The Punishment of the Wicked Those who do not receive eternal life will PERISH. All may have eternal life if they will accept Jesus AS THEIR SAVIOUR FROM SIN, Eze. 18:3-32.
