Assignment 2 Tal Mizrachi Journalism 333 April 14, 2013 Nike Blog vs. Adidas Blog

NikeBlog.Com The Nike Blog has no affiliation with Nike but it is a place where people post about new shoes or products coming out. They also update about teams getting new uniforms and report on all the news that Nike is releasing. They have information regarding specific shoes, teams, sports, and release dates and call themselves the “Best thing to happen to shoes since socks.” An example of pictures posted on April 2 regarding UGA’s new uniforms.

Adidas Group Blog The Adidas Group Blog is not as specific to Adidas as the Nike Blog is to Nike. Rather the group blog sponsers other brands such as Reebok, TayloMade, Ashworth, and many others. The blog has various articles about different Adidas sponsered athletes and has categories such as headquarters news and business operations as well as other sport links. NikeBlog Strengths The NikeBlog has many strengths. For example, they do a great job with promoting products and giving their readers up to date information on the merchandise that they are interested in. AdidasGroup Strengths The AdidasGroup blog seems to be more dedicated to the business side of Adidas rather than the products that Adidas offers. If they spent more time promoting the different goods that Adidas has they might be able to build a stronger following for their blog and attract more attention to it. NikeBlog Weaknesses The NikeBlog’s main weakness would be that it is not organized very well. The different categories that they have on the top bar are to broad and make looking for something specific a little difficult without using the search bar. NikeBlog offers a lot of different information but sometimes it could be very hard to find. Screen shot showing the categories that the articles are organized into.

AdidasGroup Weaknesses The AdidasGroup blog seems to be a little unorganized. The articles don’t seem to be in any specific order and the fact that this blog is a part of other companies can make it confusing to its users. If the articles were put into categories it would make the website easier to navigate.

Opportunities The NikeBlog has done a great job presenting all the different things that Nike is creating. The blog is also useful for tracking new products and designs that the Nike team is putting out. They seem to be capitalizing on all opportunities and doing a great job of managing the blog. The AdidasGroup blog is more about posting articles and getting content out. I think they are missing out on the opportunity to promote the products that Adidas has and that if they focused more on that they would be able to build a better relationship with Adidas and its followers.

Threats NikeBlog AdidasGroup It seems that the biggest threats to these blogs would be each other as Nike and Adidas seem to be one of the bigger rivals in sports products. Although both blogs are really different from each other, there seems to be a natural rivalry because of who they are supporting.
