2 THE SOURCE OF DATA IN THE QUALITY EMPLOYMENT INDICATORS Different sources in the Polish labour statistics on quality employment indicators: establishment surveys, households surveys and administrative sources Lack of the separate survey on employment quality The application of sources harmonised with ESS i.e. LFS, SES, ESAW, structural indicators, EU –SILC, LCS The approach based on the simplification and the reduction of burden

3 THE SOURCES OF DATA IN THE FIELD OF EMPLOYMENT SAFETY National survey on accidents at work conducted quarterly in units of the national economy regardless of the number of employment, harmonized with ESAW methodology since Data on accidents at work (with exception of private agriculture farms) gathered through a statistical card on accidents at work. Accidents at work on prvate agricultural farms are registered by the Social Insurance Institution. Data from the national survey on accidents at work refer to employed persons; National survey on working conditions conducted annually in units of selected type of activity of the national economy with the number of employed 10 and more persons. Data from this survey refer to employees.

Administrative sources of: the State Labour Inspection, the Institute of Occupational Medicine in Lodz; Labour costs survey which is the sample, establishment survey conducted every 4 year in units of the national economy with 10 and more employed persons.

6 QUALITY EMPLOYMENT INDICATORS IN THE FIELD OF EMPLOYMENT SAFETY Number of occupational diseases per paid employees Persons working in hazardous conditions per 1000 paid employees of total surveyed The share of expenditures on improving work safety in labour costs

7 FINAL REMARKS FROM THE ANALYSIS IN THE FIELD OF EMPLOYMENT SAFETY The increase of the number of persons injured and persons injured per employed persons in 2006 in comparison with 2005 The increase of the number of persons injured in fatal accidents per employed persons in 2006 in comparison with 2005 The highest fatal accidents ratio is registered in units conducted activity in the field of: construction, mining and quarrying, agriculture, hunting and forestry

The lowest fatal accidents ratio is registered in units conducted activity in the field of: education, financial intermediation, health and social work The assessed degree of risk and the number of employees determine the payments of employer on occupational injury insurance The drop of the number of inspections

The highest number of inspections in 2006 was registered in units conducting following type of activity: manufacturing, trade and repair, construction, the lowest one – in units conducting activity in the field of: fishing, mining and quarrying, electricity, gas and water supply The most hazardous occupations occure in following ISCO cathegory: - ISCO7 – craft and related trades workers - ISCO9 – elementary occupations - ISCO8 – plant and machine operators and assemblers

The most frequent occupational diseases are: chronic voice disorders due to excessive vocal effort, pneumoconioses, infectious and parasitic diseases or their sequels The decrease of persons working in hazardous conditions The workers who are the most exposed on hazardous conditions work in units conducting activities in the field of: mining and quarrying, electricity, gas and water supply, manufacturing
