American Homeless Crisis In America, there are more than 2.2 Million people that area affected by hunger. Over half of the 2.2 million people are children. We are answering the call of many homeless children that are in need of a nutritious meal. This brochure is to raise awareness and to find a solution to combat hunger.

Introduction I picked this topic because of the answers that are need regarding local government programs. I want my readers to explore their option to combat hunger and prevent disease.

The Cause and Effect of Homelessness Causes Lost of income Mental disorders Lack of funds from government housing programs Not enough money to supplement city programs. Effects Lack of jobs to stimulate the economy Lucid patients in the city causing high medical and jail cost Increase more funding from the government. Data support for increase funding and supplies. Raise awareness for more support staff and shelters.

The Stats for Texans According to The state of Texas Census commission Texas has a population of 2,451,730 people state wide. 265,000 Texas are estimated to be homeless within the year. There are actually 79,000 people homeless at this time. Burt, M., Aron, L., Lee, E., and Jesse Valente Helping America’s Homeless: Emergency Shelter or Affordable Housing? The Solutions The state can ask for additional monies to provide program to its citizens based on the projected need of homeless individuals. We need to have more providers in the city willing to aide homeless victims with clothes, food, and shelter. We need to increase education through out the community to promote the giving spirit and to stop the stereotypes of homeless clients.

Who are our clients vs. the Stereotypes The Stereotypes Most of the stereotypes of the homeless populations consist of Junkies Bums Lazy people Careless people Uneducated Ex-cons The over looked population Most people tend to over look the fact that most end up on the street due to economic jobs loss or sickness. Doctors Lawyers Business professionals Educated persons All the above are not immune from becoming homeless. The problem if not resolved will result in a drain on our city resources for medical and can result into criminal activity.
