Cruise Route Planning ArcGIS ACTIVITY INSTRUCTIONS (Tutorial)

Getting Started… 1. SIGN IN TO ARCGIS ONLINE 2. OPEN OUR MAP OF THE CARIBBEAN 3. CLICK ‘MODIFY MAP’

Make all layers visible. ‘Change Symbols’ for Caribbean Ports

Under OPTIONS: Change Symbols

Choose an appropriate symbol for PORTS.

‘Change Symbols’ for Caribbean Countries

Choose Unique Symbols

To Show: Country_Name

‘Create Labels’ for Caribbean Countries

‘Create Labels’ for Caribbean Ports.

*make the font smaller for Caribbean Ports

Add MAP NOTES Layer

Name it ‘From Havana’

Find the 2 ports you are measuring. Zoom.

Click Edit

Draw a line between the two ports

Activate the ‘Measure’ tool. Measure the distance between the two.

Calculate the cruising time. Label the distance & time on the line.

Repeat these steps for the next PORT.
