Introduction Graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelors in Biology! GO KNIGHTS! Fourth year teaching middle school science at Ben Gamla Charter I love animals, traveling, and crafts I have a passion for science, and I hope to inspire your children to gain an appreciation for science and our Earth.

Course Description Students will engage in a challenging science curriculum that includes concepts from the Biological, Physical, and Earth Sciences supported through hands-on integrated activities.

Changes This Year: 6 TH GRADE: EARTH/SPACE ONLY 7 TH GRADE: LIFE SCIENCE 8 TH GRADE: PHYSICAL SCIENCE

Required Textbook and Workbooks Science Fusion by Holt McDougal This is a brand new textbook!! This is an interactive consumable text that will stay in the classroom. Students will rip out pages when assignments are given and is required to bring the pages back for the assignment to be graded. This textbook is completely online at thinkcentral.com

Supply List 1 pack of colored pencils 1 1/2-inch 3 ring binder FLEXI 2 packs of pencils pens (black, blue, red) 1 metric ruler highlighters 1 pencil sharpener 1 ream of copy paper 1 glue stick 1 ream of notebook paper 1 1 subject notebook 1 pack of dividers 1 pack of 3x5 index cards 1 scissor 1 calculator 1 portable hole puncher dry erase markers 1 mini stapler with staples Students are required to have ALL supplies and workbooks on science class days. If a student comes to class without supplies, then he/she will receive a zero for the work done in class that day.

Student Expectations Come to class prepared with all needed school supplies. All work turned in must be in the correct format, neat/legible, and on time for maximum credit. Participation during Q&A’s, class discussions, and labs. Follow all classroom rules and lab safety rules. Students who do not follow these rules will not participate in labs and be given alternative assignments. If you are absent, it is the STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY to get missed assignments from the class website, the teacher, or a friend. Students have two school days for each day absent to turn in the work. Missed work that is not turned in will turn into a zero. NO LATE WORK!! If you don’t understand something, then ask me!!! I am always here to help!! TRY YOUR BEST AND HAVE FUN!!!!

Grades All grades will be posted and updated online at every Monday, so that parents and students can track grades whenever you want! All students will recieve their own, private access code. On the engrade homepage, click on parents and students. With your access number on hand, click on sign up for a free student account here and create your account. Once you create an account, grades can be checked at anytime!! up for a free student account here Students will also be responsible to log all of their assignments and grades on their assignment table. There will be times when their assignment log must be signed by parents. I will post dates ahead of time on the calendar on my website.

Classroom Rules Come to class prepared. Be ready to begin work as soon as you walk through the door. Follow teacher instruction. Be respectful at all times of the people, equipment, and furnishings in the room. Have a positive attitude!

BROWARD COUNTY CELL PHONE POLICY Cell phones MUST be turned off and put in student’s backpacks If a student is caught with their cell phone out of their bags or if their cell phone goes off in class, it is an automatic referral and parents must pick it up the phone from the office. This is a Broward County Code of Conduct rule and will be enforced!

Important Information For Parents Students must get breakfast by 7:55 am. We can not accept any checks under $15.00 Checks may not combine the purchase of different things. Lunch is ordered ahead of time, students can not buy lunch on a day to day basis. April 15, 30 volunteer hours from parents are due. You can buy out your volunteer hours: 1 hour = 10 dollars.
