A real teacher or a computer? Klepinina Olga and Students Of Kirov Teachers’ Training College Kirov, 2012

A real teacher or a computer? For preparing for our lessons we use different sources, take for example libraries, computers with lots of sites of useful information.

A real teacher or a computer? In lesson preparation we use mostly Microsoft software We have some tens of computers

A real teacher or a computer? And at the lesson we use computers, interactive boards, projectors, screens, web-cams, DVD players, different tapes.

A real teacher or a computer? Studying English we use ICT very often: in reading, writing, listening. And we find it interesting. Our lessons became more exciting, informative.

A real teacher or a computer? I myself have made a kind of test. I compared the students’ result of the test papers on one of the most difficult grammar event in the English Language, that is “Conditional Sentences. Hypothesizing” Firstly, explaining this very material I used only oral explanations- the quality of my teaching was- 45% Secondly, explaining this I used oral explanations and some pictures- the quality of my teaching was- 56% Thirdly, explaining this I used oral explanations and some pictures, ICT- the quality of my teaching was- 72%

A real teacher or a computer? Some Advantages of such lessons: - Students are not very tired; - Students may return to the material at any time; - Students may predict the events, even their future results; - Students are taught individually; - Students may plan the process of studying; - Students may use different sources of information; - Students are more motivated.

ICT in Teaching and Learning But studying Foreign Languages it will be wise to use vital speech of the people. ICT will, certainly, help us, but not replace the real speech.

A real teacher or a computer? We are happy that nowadays we can use Skype to communicate with each other. We are different but we are common in studying English

A real teacher or a computer? But we think that a computer cannot replace the teacher because - a teacher is vivid; - a teacher can praise the students; - a teacher can be kind, give advice; - a teacher can be your friend.

A real teacher or a computer? Thank you
