MathXL ® for School Student Training Series Enrolling in Your MathXL ® for School Class & Setting Up Your Computer for MathXL ® for School

Point your browser to: Note: Before you can enroll in a MathXL ® for School class, you must be a registered user.

In order to register, you must have an access code. In most cases, your teacher will provide you with a “Personal Student Registration Record” (see below) with a unique code and registration directions. See the “Student Registration” tour for details.

Once your registration is complete, go to and log in with your user information.

Click to Enter MathXL ® for School.

In most cases, you will be enrolling in a course created by your teacher. In this case, select the first button.

Enter your Course ID. You should have received this from your teacher. Enter your Course ID then confirm you are enrolling in the correct course. Click Enroll to continue. If you do not know your Course ID, contact your teacher.

You will receive an immediate confirmation of your enrollment in the class.

OR Depending on the class you’re enrolling in and your computer, you may be prompted to run either the Browser Check or Installation Wizard.

Running the Browser Check If your class requires the Browser Check to configure your computer, click Browser Check and it will start automatically.

Once the Browser Check is complete, any software that you need to install or update will be indicated in red text. In this case, a link to install or verify the software will be provided.

Follow the on-screen instructions to install or update any required software. If you have any trouble with the installation, click the link for Troubleshooting Topics or the MathXL ® for School Product Support site.

Administrator Rights Whether your class requires the Browser Check or Installation Wizard, you must have the right to install software on the computer. For more information about Administrator Rights, click the link as shown here.

Before proceeding to your MathXL ® for School course, close and restart your computer’s Internet browser. If your class requires the Browser Check, you will not need to run the Installation Wizard. The slides that follow will take you through the steps for running the Installation Wizard.

Running the Installation Wizard If your class requires the Installation Wizard, click the button to start the Installation Wizard.

Administrator Rights Whether your class requires the Browser Checker or Installation Wizard, you must have the right to install software on the computer. As needed, click the links for more information or help with the Installation Wizard.

Install the MathXL ® Player Click the button to start the installation process.

Be sure to watch for prompts to allow the software to download. These may appear in a yellow bar just below the address bar. Click on the prompt to install the necessary software.

Click as prompted to install the necessary software.

Continue to follow the on-screen steps to install any necessary software. If you have problems and need help, print the instructions or visit the Product Support site.

Once you have installed all of the software, make sure to exit your Internet browser and restart it before logging into your course.

You are now ready to start working in your MathXL ® for School class. You may revisit the Browser Check or Installation Wizard at any time by clicking the link on your class home page
