My Service Learning Samantha Colgan-Jones

Cook County Council of the Arts The Council of the Arts produces a show each summer for all ages. This is to raise money for future shows and other events. It is also to get kids involved and to give something back to the community.

My Duties My title is the Stage Manager. I keep the actors and crew in line, I call the show (give cues), I find props and costumes. Basically I am responsible for everything backstage during performance and rehearsals.

Once on this Island This is the current show. It has ages from 6 to 19. It is a musical.

American Heart Association Our FYE class did a car wash to raise money in the name of John Bailey Davis, the son of a former VSU student. John died of heart complications at 3 months old. He had Congenital Heart Disease.

At the Car Wash We washed a lot of cars for free. Donations only. All the money we raised went to the association. While some of us washed others held signs and got the cars moving. With the two car washes we did we raised $500.
