CURRICULUM Familiarize yourself with the 4 th grade Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS) Access the standards on WES, CCSD & teacher websites. Reading/LA Math Social Studies/Science (still GPS) Core/Pages/default.aspx

S PELLING Weekly spelling homework due on THURSDAY of each week. Spelling quizzes will be every FRIDAY. Spelling words are stapled in their agenda each week.

S TUDENT G RADES … Papers will be sent home every other Friday. Please LOOK at your child’s grades. Please sign and return folder. Grades can be accessed via the Internet.

S TUDENT G RADES … Classwork- 100 points Homework- 100 points (quarterly grade) Quiz- 100 points Test/Projects- 200 points

G A MILESTONES Your child will be taking the Georgia Milestones assessment in the Spring. The GA Milestones has replaced the CRCT. Please plan on attending the informational meeting on February 24 th, 2015 from 6:30- 7:30.

H OMEWORK P OLICY Missed homework=Missed recess 5 points will be deducted from their quarterly homework grade for each missed assignment

I MPROVING STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT o Read with your child for at least 20 minutes each day. o Check your child’s homework for accuracy and understanding. o Practice multiplication and division on a frequent basis. o Review study guide materials with your child nightly. o Communicate with your child’s teacher (via ).

B EHAVIOR CARD Please review your child’s behavior card daily. Review & sign your child’s behavior card weekly (5 additional behavior bucks are given ) Please support appropriate school behavior by reinforcing these behavior expectations at home.

D IFFERENTIATION Students are often referred to Camp Learnalotta for remediation and enrichment. If you would like to volunteer your time, please visit the Computer Lab.

T RANSPORTATION & B LUE H OMEWORK F OLDER Please place all transportation change notes in the “return to school” side of the HW folder. Please do not place transportation changes in the agenda or by . Students are responsible for keeping their homework folder organized and giving us important notes.

Please Note… If your child misses school for any reason, it is his or her responsibility to ask for and return make-up work.

A GENDAS … Please sign agendas nightly after checking your child’s homework is complete. All students are required to write their homework in the agenda daily.

P ARENT -S TUDENT -T EACHER COMPACT Please take compact home today. Then, SIGN, DATE and RETURN by Tuesday, September 2 nd. This compact outlines achievement and student success.

H EALTHY SNACKS Snack time is during their first class. Quick and healthy snacks only. Candy and other unhealthy items should not be sent in for snacks.

4 TH GRADE DUES 4 th grade dues are $35. This will include field trips, 4 th grade t-shirt and other activities we are planning this school year. To guarantee that your child receives a 4 th grade T-shirt, at least $20 of the $35 dues are due by tomorrow.

H OW TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE TEACHER is the best form of communication. If is not possible, please send in a note in your child’s homework folder. Our parent facilitator and translator, Jessica Ruiz, is available for questions & conferences.
