Presentation on 5 pens technology - THE NEXT GEN INCREDIBLE COMPUTER

ABSTRACT  It is a Future generation technology  Bulk computers > Desk-tops > Lap-tops > Palm-tops.  In this, interface between the technology and human is 5 pen-type PCs.  The whole set is connected to the Internet through Cellular Phone function.

 History  INTRODUCTION To P-ISM  COMPONENTS  FEATURES  PROS AND CONS  FUTURE SCOPE  CONCLUSION Contents

History  "Pen-style Personal Networking Gadget" created in 2003 by Japanese technology company NEC.  P-ISM was first featured at the 2003 ITU- Telecom world held in Geneva, Switzerland.

P-ISM WHAT IS P-ISM?  P-ISM is a “pen-style personal networking gadget package”.  The P-ISM consists of a package of 5 pens with each having unique functions, combining together to create a virtual computing experience.  P-ISMs are connected with one another via a short-range wireless technology.

COMPONENTS:  CPU PEN  COMMUNICATION PEN  LED PROJECTOR PEN  VIRTUAL KEYBOARD  DIGITAL CAMERA

CPU PEN:

 The functionality of the CPU is done by one of the pen.Computing engine, performs Arithmetic and Logic operations.  Stores mass volume of data, hard disk capable of storing several Tera Bytes. Dual Core processor is used. Works with windows operating system

COMMUNICATION PEN:  The whole set is also connected to the Internet through the cellular phone function.  Ear-piece is used for communication.  Pens are connected through Tri- wireless modes (Blue tooth, B/G, and Cellular).

 Wireless Bluetooth Technology  Uses Wi -Fi technology.  Exchange information with wireless connection

LED PROJECTOR PEN:  Monitor is LED Projector.  Size is A4.  Resolution capacity is1024*768 approx.  It gives more clarity and good picture

VIRTUAL KEYBOARD:  The Virtual Laser Keyboard (VKB) is a new gadget for PC users.  It emits laser on desk.  QWERTY arrangement of keys.  Uses laser beam to generate full_size perfect keyboard.

DIGITAL CAMERA & SCANNER  Digital camera in the shape of pen.  Useful in video recording, video conferencing, simply it is called as web-cam.  Connected via bluetooth.  360-Degree Visual Communication Device.

Battery  Is is the most important part in the portable type of computers.  Usually batteries are small in size and work for a long time.  It comes with a battery life of 6+ (i.e 6 days).  For normal use it can be used for 2 weeks.

FEATURES:  SECURITY : In order to LOGIN to the computer, Biometrics technology is implemented (e-finger printing).  BACKUP: These are capable of storing Tera Bytes of data and accessing is also fast and efficient.  BATTERY: Usually batteries must be small in size and work for longer time. Li-ion batteries are used.

FEATURES (cont’d):  PORTABILITY : This 'pen sort of instrument' produces both the monitor as well as the keyboard on any flat surfaces.

Pros:  More Portable  Takes Less space  Ubiquitous computing is done  Wi-Fi technology  Consumes Less battery

Cons: Currently un clear Cost effective  Not extensible.  Need advanced technology.  Required to learn

FUTURE SCOPE:  ‘Can anyone say, 'Good-bye laptops?’, yes  With 5 pen sort technology, in the future we can even expect one pen pc which has everything embedded in one pen.

Conclusion:  This is only an example for the start of this new technology.  With the revolution of miniature computers, scientists have made great developments with Bluetooth technology and the communication devices are becoming smaller and compact.
