Exodus Volume 2

Session 7 Exodus 32—40

How is it possible to be restored once I’ve disobeyed God?

We can quickly go from obedience to disobedience. (Ex. 32:1-6) With Moses delayed on Mount Sinai, the people began worshiping a golden calf. We are prone to faltering faithfulness in our relationship with God. With Moses delayed on Mount Sinai, the people began worshiping a golden calf. We are prone to faltering faithfulness in our relationship with God.

Our disobedience is costly to our relationship with God. (Ex. 32:7-35) God’s anger burned against the Israelites for their disobedience. God relented from destroying the people, but held them accountable for their sins. Sin separates us from God Although our salvation is sure in Christ, we are not immune to the law of the harvest: you reap what you sow. Sin separates us from God Although our salvation is sure in Christ, we are not immune to the law of the harvest: you reap what you sow.

God is compassionate and willing to restore us. (Ex. 33—35) Moses interceded for the people and God promised that His presence would continue to be with the people. God proclaimed Himself to be compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, and rich in love. When we repent, God in His mercy and grace restores us to fellowship with Him.
