Hunmanby Juniors F.C. Newsletter Christmas Party The Hunmanby Christmas Party will be held in the club house on Saturday 20 th December. Start Time 7.00pm. Everyone is welcome November 2008 issue 2 Safeguarding children: Everyone in football has a duty of care towards children - ensuring they are able to play football in a safe, enjoyable environment free of abuse, bullying and discrimination. Improving behaviour is a whole-game issue and the season will see the Respect programme introduced at professional and grassroots levels. Respect is The FA's programme of activities to combat unacceptable behaviour in our game at every level - on the pitch and from the sidelines This was the No.1 priority emerging from the biggest opinion survey to date of grassroots football in England. It was carried out in late 2007 and directly informed The FA's National Game Strategy, published in March We hope that Respect will ensure a safe, positive environment for everyone to enjoy football. From the start it will have an impact on the following areas: Referee recruitment and retention: By tackling abuse towards match officials, we hope to reduce the stream of referees understandably leaving the game. Participation within youth football: Abuse and pressure from the sidelines needs to stop if we are to ensure young children enjoy, stay and progress in the game. Coaching and player development: An encouraging and player-centred approach is vital if we are to improve coaching standards - particularly for the key 5-11 age-group. It's simple: better coaches produce better players. Hunmanby Juniors fully supports this campaign, please play your part and respect the game, combat unacceptable behaviour either on or at side of the pitch. Spectators' Areas: a guide In the season The FA ran a pilot study in 19 leagues across England and these spectator areas had a hugely positive effect on behaviour. The barriers literally draw the line which parents and spectators should not cross. Coaches of both teams stand on the other side of the pitch, meaning players get instructions from just one side of the pitch. Hunmanby Juniors will be looking at the most practical way of implementing this initiative in the coming months

November 2008 issue 2 Parent(s) Questions and Answers Any parent wishing to ask the club a question please use the space provided below. We will endeavour to reply by giving an answer in the next newsletter or contacting you direct Name Age Group Question Scarborough Minor League Goes on the web To access results and league tables please input the link below. Browse which ever age group you wish by using the drop down menus Parents play a crucial part in supporting the involvement of their children with football. The FA aims to help parents play a positive role, recognising that involvement in football can greatly influence the development of children, both in the football environment and in their overall lifestyles. As a result, The FA launched Soccer Parent to work positively with parents, with the intention of raising both standards of behavior and knowledge, as well as looking to attract new volunteers to the game. The FA has launched an online version of the programme. Parents, coaches, teachers and young players will find a whole host of interactive information, games, puzzles and downloads aimed at getting the Soccer Parent message across. The online Soccer Parent course will explain how clubs and schools can organise a Parents Evening to communicate good practice in a fun and friendly way. But the beauty of the internet and its 24-hour access is that the whole course can be easily completed at any time by anyone who has access to a computer. Soccer Parent is a completely free online course that is available to anybody that registers with FA Learning – The FA’s Educational Provider. Everyone that completes the course and achieves the pass mark can immediately print off an accredited certificate directly from the website. Please Try this online and submit a copy of your certificate to the club 'You're all feet!' yelled the coach at the practice session. 'All bloody feet! How many times have I told you - use your brains, use your feet, but let the ball do the work!', 'Well, don't tell me,' shouted the unfortunate player. 'Tell the bloody ball!'
