“According to MathWorld, trigonometry is the study of angles and of the angular relationships of planar and three- dimensional figures”(Trigonometry).

It mainly originated from astronomers and mathematicians when dealing with stars and the moon and planets. Its origins lie in the world of astronomy and spherical triangles. "A man named B. Pitiscus first published Trigonometry’s name in 1595, in Latin it means the study of Trigons (triangles). Ancient Greek mathematicians were the first to introduce trigonometric functions with the chords of a circle. Hipparchus was the first to publish the chords in 140bc, who was then called the founder of trigonometry."

It is used for astronomy, geography, engineering, physics, and mathematics. It could also be used for architecture. “The science is used to find the heights of buildings, or create dimensional objects to use in buildings. Trigonometry is used to make demarcations for cubicles in an office building”(Manda).

Sine (sin) Cosine (cos) Tangent (tan) Secant (sec) Cosecant (csc) Cotangent (cot) They are related by dealing with right angles.

Go out onto the soccer field and play to figure out the angle of the soccer ball going into the net. Trigonometry goes along with sports in many ways and it would be fun to relate trig with a fun activity.!

It incorporates the sine, cosine and tangent ratios into the quadrants of a circle. The center is put on a graph where the x axis and y axis cross, so we get this neat arrangement here.
