Neighbourhood PlanParish Plan Village Design Statement Plan LoCal Single Issue Consultation

Have statutory weight through Localism Act. Set planning policies for development and use of land. Led by Parish / Town Council or Neighbourhood Forum. Involve the Local Planning Authority. Must conform with Local, National and EU Policy. Require community consultation, an independent examination and a local referendum.

CANCANNOT Shape & direct future development. Prevent any development from ever taking place in an area. Identify most suitable local sites.Block a specific development. Have statutory weight. Conflict with local, national, or EU policies. Encourage more development.Reduce allocated development. Identify key areas for protection. Be prepared with no input or support from the local community. Set required improvements or additions to facilities, services and infrastructure. Be prepared without the support of the Parish / Town Council or Local Planning Authority.

Identify and explore all local issues and priorities. Focus on social issues as well as design and land use. Are led by local volunteers. Engage and support whole community. Require community consultation and engagement. Develop a shared vision and Action Plan.

CANCANNOT Identify and prioritise local issues. Prevent development from taking place in an area. Influence local policies, decisions, and guide future service delivery. Be prepared with no input or support from the local community. Provide evidence of need for funding applications. Stop any change from occurring in an area. Identify local volunteers.Succeed without local volunteers. Focus local resources and effort. Prevent cuts in funding or to services. Identify, plan, and implement a range of projects and initiatives.

Help influence decisions on design and development. Define the visual qualities and characteristics of the area. Takes into account the buildings, spaces, settings and landscapes which make the area unique. Provide a clear statement against which planning applications may be assessed. Build a greater understanding between the local community and the planning authority.

CANCANNOT Define the design features and characteristics valued locally. Prevent development. Promote good design that is in harmony with the local setting. Conflict with local planning policies. Give the community a voice in the planning process. Define specific areas / sites for development or protection. Add a local dimension to district plan policies. Be developed without consultation with the local community. Can become a material consideration used to determine local planning applications. Be prepared by an individual person.

Plan developed to make the parish more sustainable Looks to improve energy efficiency and save water Explores the installation of renewables, community owned energy generation and other low carbon solutions May focus on sustainable transport, local food production and other environmental projects Can help to source funding and identify other methods of financing energy efficiency projects

Encourage future development to be sustainable and include energy saving / generating features Prevent development from taking place, specify sites, or set planning policies. Focus local resources and effort.Succeed without local volunteers. Support the local community to save energy and cut down bills Identify, plan, and implement a range of projects and initiatives.

Focuses on a specific issue, area or group. Can be led by local volunteers, Parish / Town Council or any other relevant organisation. Can be designed to meet specific aims & objectives. Helpful in identifying evidence for funding bids
