The word BEATNIK has occurred from English «beat». They are primogenitors of all nonconformists. This movement appeared in the 50th in America. Many young people have lost parents in the war. That generation was named “ broken”.

Beatniks — representatives of anarchical movement of "the broken generation» of the western youth of the 50 — 60th years, rejecting traditional morals and the standard social values (mainly in the USA and Great Britain). They often broke the rules of elementary norms of a human life.

The members of this subculture wear the shabby jeans, spare sweaters, fragmentary gym shoes.

William Burrows, Jack Kerouac, Ken Kizi. Famous poets: Allen Ginzberg, Greg Korso, Kenneth Reksrot are also beatniks.

Allen Ginsberg – ( ) — an American poet of the second half of the XX- th century, the founder of beatniks. The author of a well-known poem "Howl" (1956).

Beatniks listen to rock. Popular rock guitarists were: Dzhimi Hendrix, Dzhenis Joplin, “Greatful Dad”, Jim Morrison.

In 1992 Kurt Cobain together with Uilljam Burrows wrote down a single “The Priest”They Called Him” where Cobain played a guitar and Burrows read texts. There was only one composition, lasting 9 minutes 42 seconds.

Beatniks are nonconformists who do what they like and enjoy yourself.

Beatniks were not such friendly children. It was an ideological grouping cherishing kind feelings for Marxism, Russian anarchism. They protested against the American foreign policy and the American way of life.

Beatniks had a slang. They are responsible for a word "cool": it was a jazz word. Beatniks were the first who used this word. They also took from jazz the words “cat”(чувак) and “dig” (врубаться). There is even a whole dictionary of beatniks.
