Hold fast to dreams For if dreams die Life is a broken-winged bird That cannot fly Hold fast to dreams For when dreams go Life is a barren field Frozen with snow.

If you don’t follow your dreams eventually they will die. Everyone should go after what they want never stop trying to reach your goal. The theme of this poem is to peruse your dreams and never let them die out.

The tone of this poem is some what sad but hoping to have a better life and follow his dreams. Langston wants to follow his dreams so they wont die cause if his dreams die so will he on the inside.
