Sugar VS Splenda Which batch of sugar cookies are sweeter.

Introduction This project was made to see if Splenda and Sugar had an actual affect on the sugar cookie taste. This helps the science world, because Artificial sugar is said to really taste like actual sugar. We came to the conclusion that it’s a lie. We also experimented upon how both sugars interacted with the other ingredents.

Hypothesis This experiment is used to test if real sugar and artificial sugar can affect the taste of sugar cookies. With less sugar, original batch can a someone taste the difference. We are varying the sugars in the cookies because it can show if we can be fooled by the sugars.

Recipe MAKING THE COOKIES: *A batch is 48 cookies, recipe is from allrecipes.comallrecipes.com *Oh sugar should be put in baggies in the measurements from table Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl use a whisk to sir in ingredients: 2 ¾ cups of all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda and ½ a teaspoon of baking powder. Set this aside for a while, that is all the dry ingredients. 2. In a lager bowl mix together 1 cup of room temperature butter (temperature can vary) and 1 ½ cup sugar (which can be substituted depending on which batch being made) until smooth. Then add 1 egg and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Then one can gradually blend in the dry ingredients with the butter and sugar. 3. After that one can take a teaspoon full of dough and roll it around until its round. Then place the ball on an un-greased cookie sheet, (which is the pan of 23 x 25 pan) continue until there is no dough left or no more space on the pan and made sure the balls are at least 2 inches away from each other so when they expand they have room. 4. Bake from 8 to 10 minutes or until the cookies are golden. The put the pan of 23 x 25 on the stove for 2 minutes, then remove cookies and place them on a cooling rack until they are cooled.

Survey 1) Which batch has the original amount of sugar? 2) Which batch has the half of them amount of sugar? 3) Which batch has the same amount of sugar? 4) Which batch has no sugar? 5) Which one has artificial sugar in regular amount? 6) Which batch is sweeter and why? 7)Which do you prefer?
