Questions  Where is the digestive system located?  How does the digestive system work?  What is a system that works with the digestive system?  What are the body parts in the digestive system?

The Digestive System  The digestive system is located in your stomach area.  It works with the mouth and esophagus because it receives the food from them.  The liver sends nutrients around the body after the small intestines absorb the nutrients and give it to the liver. The liver needs the help of the circulatory system do it.

How do the Digestive System works  The digestive system breaks down food into smaller molecules.  The things the body needs in the food for energy, moves on into the blood. The other waste is disposed.  Digestive problems can make us feel sick. Indigestion is another name for an upset stomach. You might get indigestion if you eat to quickly, which could cause you to throw up.

Major Functions  Breaking down food for nutrians  Digesting the food  Processing foods  Changes raw food to nutrients that the body can use and waste.

Possible Diseases  One disease is called gastrointestinal tract.  There is also a cancer called stomach cancer.  Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease  Diverticulosis/diverticulitis  Colon Cancer

Tests  The digestive system test is called the upper GI.  Some kids like you have to have a upper GI tests because their doctor wants to see what’s in the body.  The test is like being in a x-ray room to see if your digestive system works perfectly.

Fun Facts  Your digestive system may be working on food you just ate for hours or sometimes days.  Your digestive system even starts working before you take your first bite of food.  Your transverse colon runs horizontally across your abdomen.
