B.C. Road Trip! By Selena Russ and Sydney Elston

This is our Car! This Forttwo Smart car has maximum speed of 145 km. It weighs 1800 pounds, and can switch transmittion (standard/automatic). Uses 53 km. per gallon of gasoline.

Day 1, So Far, So Good… We left from Midway and have now started our road trip. We will make our way to Prince Rupert today starting at six o’clock. We are heading to Kelowna now.

Day 1, Cats in Kelowna! We decided to stop in Kelowna at the S.P.C.A to look at kittens and ended up adopting four Ragdoll kittens! We named them Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, and Aurora!

Day 1, Having fun in Merritt! We drove for another hour from Kelowna and found Merritt. It is said that it is the “Country Music Capital of Canada”. Selena and I went to the Chili Dog Boogie: Angle’s Animal Rescue Fundraiser with our four kittens we adopted yesterday. It was fun! As we were driving, we passed a deer at the side of the road! I hope he didn’t get hurt after we left.

Day 1, Kamlooping! Selena and I decided, as part of the experience of this road trip, we would get out in the country and ride some horses! We went to Mile High Rides and had a blast!

Our Hotel in Williams Lake. We arrived in Williams Lake and stayed in a B&B The hosts welcomed us warmly! They charged us $100 per night for one night. We got a good nights sleep and they were pet friendly so we could bring our KITTENS!!! We bought some food for the cats which cost $15 but we forgot a litter box.  We had quite the mess to clean up.

Day 2, Off to Prince George! We left Williams Lake, had a nice dinner, and headed to Smithers where we were going to camp!

Day 2, Selena and Sydney Camping= FUN In Smithers, we camped at Call Lake Provincial Park! The cats slept in the car… they were complaining all night… MEOW! MEOW! MEOW! We slept in the tent.

Day 3, The End of this Trip… Our alarm sounded at 5:00 in the morning. Selena and I did not want to get up, but we had to if we were going to get to Prince Rupert on time. We headed from Smithers to Terrace, and we did not stop, even when we saw there was a raccoon and another deer in the local forest.

Day 3, Prince Rupert! Our Smart car passed Terrace and hit Prince Rupert at around 10:00 am. We got to this place on time! We were proud of ourselves for doing so well. We started this journey at Midway on Day 1, and ended up in Prince Rupert on Day 3.

Some Fun Facts! Queen Charlotte Islands does have a ferry service and the B.C. Ferries run it. Washington State, Idaho, and Montana border B.C. to the South, Alberta to the East, and the Yukon and Northwest Territories to the North. The mountain range that Prince Rupert resides in is the Coast Mountain Ranges. There are poisonous critters in the area of Midway B.C., and record temperatures are too high to say! The scale in kilometers of B.C. is 100 km. per 2 cm.

More Fun Facts! This sign means that there is a decreased slope in the road. This sign mean to watch out for moose on the roads. This sign means that the road could be icy and your car could slide on the road. This sign means that in this area a landslide could occur. These signs are put out for drivers to warn them for safety reasons.
