R10 Annual Meeting Dr Zia Ahmed 7 – 8 March, 2015 Dhaka, Bangladesh Goals and Strategies for Region 10 Awards & Recognition Program

R10 Award & Recognition Program Strategy Objectives –Recognize Sections and volunteers for contributions to IEEE by granting awards –Encourage Sections for further enhancement in membership and activities –Highlight good examples for others to follow Four Major Goals –Increase participation rate –Improve quality of nominations –Proper documentation (Terms of Reference) and –Establish new awards within financial constraints 2

Consolidation of all R10 awards –R10 ARC Coordinator to oversee R10 awards across all committees –All relevant R10 coordinators are members in ARC. –A single Point of Contact for information/enquiries about all R10 awards –Council, Section, AG and SB Chairs to receive one regarding all awards (call for nominations, assessment criteria and closing dates) –Assessments of nominations will still be done by relevant R10 Coordinating team which recommend to R10 ARC. R10 Award & Recognition Program Strategy

Goal 1: Increase Participation Rate Not many Sections submit nominations for R10 Awards Strategy Enhance awareness about R10 awards Better information for Sections’ leadership R10 Awards booklet next year Encouragement by close interaction with Section Chairs Learn about major problems for nominations and help Easy on-line nominations process for uniformity and consistent assessments All successful nominations will be endorsed for respective IEEE awards e.g. MGA, Education Board and other awards 4 R10 Award & Recognition Program Strategy

Goal 2: Improve Quality of Nominations Sections are not submitting award winning nominations Quantity but with quality Strategy Clear and well defined criteria for each award Highlight the nominator and Section Chair’s responsibilities for good quality nominations Help Section Chairs and other local leaders to recognize and nurture talent for genuine nominations Review and impartial feedback 5 R10 Award & Recognition Program Strategy

Goal 3: Proper documentation Need proper Terms of Reference for each award Strategy Complete documentation for all awards in 2015 covering Purpose and description of the award Rules and regulations with clear assessment process and grading criteria Relaxed but fixed time lines 6 R10 Award & Recognition Program Strategy

Goal 4: Establish new awards within financial constraints How to find money to establish new awards Strategy Consolidate existing awards and rationalize Sponsorships for funding current & new awards; the sponsors will be allowed to: Attached their brand name to the R10 awards Display their product at R10 events and Short promotional video at R10 awards ceremony and dinner 7 R10 Award & Recognition Program Strategy
