Purpose & background Short/medium term repository service Enables all UK academics to share in benefits of OA Enables all UK academics to meet the requirements of funders mandates Assists existing institutional repositories (IR) to make their existence known to their users Assists developing IRs to populate their repository

Services 1. a re-direct service –to ensure that content that comes within the remit of an existing institutional repository is correctly placed 2. an OAI-compliant repository –for eprints from researchers at institutions that do not currently have an IR. 3. a keep-safe service –ensuring eprints are kept safe in the interim period before all have IRs –supporting transfer of relevant content as new IRs are established 4. m2m access service –supports OA-PMH harvesting by service providers
