Welcome to Mrs. Bond-Jackson’s Class Monday, August 20, 2007

Introduce Yourself!  My name is………(no nicknames please!)  When I was ….. (pick an age), I ….(something surprising or interesting)  You might not believe this but I…. (make it interesting but not too personal)

One hundred years from now it will not matter What kind of car I drove, What kind of house I lived in, How much I had in the bank account, Or what my clothes looked like. But the world will be a better place because I was important in the life of a child. Harry Wong Ms R. Bond-Jackson

”Does thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of.” Ben Franklin Prescription for Success Attend class everyday Arrive on time for class Prepare to remain in class 90 minutes Use class time wisely Refrain from off-topic discussions Keep socializing to a minimum Be seated before the tardy bell sounds Remain seated until dismissal bell sounds Request passes for emergencies only

“ Time is money” Ben Franklin If nature calls then go you must! Sign the pass log on my desk  Take the laminated pass beside the log  Use the nearest facility (bldg 300 only)  Get back ASAP  Do not stop to meet friends  Do not take a detour to see counselors, coaches, administrators, etc.  Do not use your cell phone in bathroom When you return…..  Sign in on the pass log  Return the pass to my desk  Take your seat quietly

Maintain Self-Control Respect the viewpoints of your classmates Do not become angry or upset. Wait your turn to speak When the going gets tough relax and breathe deeply. Leaving class without permission is a referral offense. If you become angry or upset and feel you must leave, go directly to your administrators office.

Take Self-Inventory  What knowledge do you hope to gain from this class? What are your plans for the future?  How will this class help you to accomplish those goals?  Remember: You will get out of your classes exactly what you put into them.

Communicate Concerns If you have a concern that you feel is not being addressed see me immediately after class or ask your parent to call ASAP Do not allow small concerns to become large problems which may interfere with your academic progress. If a question arises that only concerns your assignment/grades, please see me after class or write a note on the assignment and place it on my desk in the “in-box”
