Elite Athletes Sincerely want to succeed They do something about it Not up to luck or faith

Elite Athletes Set goals (written) (SMART) Short term goals that lead to long term success (step by step action) Reassess their goals once achieved or come up short Thoughts are controlled by their goals Planting the goal of success in the mind is their most important personal responsibility in achieving their success

Elite Athletes Realize that there is an investment involved Nothing worth while comes easy Everything comes with a price tag as far as training and effort Always willing to pay the price and keep their eyes forward on their goals

Elite Athletes Know and understand that the success in the end is based upon their personal efforts

Elite Athletes See work as a privilege Not a Chore Enjoy the process

Elite Athletes Don’t depend on luck Success goes where it is invented “Luck is preparation meeting opportunity” Will power not ‘Magic’ turns dreams into reality

Elite Athletes Don’t become discouraged at temporary set backs Have a high frustration tolerance They learn from setbacks and move forward with optimism and confidence

Elite Athletes Don’t worry about if the grass is greener on the other side. Don’t complain about what they don’t have They develop the maximum potential of what they do have

Elite Athletes Stay the course of their goals and objectives with faith and perseverance Disregard peoples opinions and criticism outside of coaching staff

Elite Athletes Find profit from their own mistakes and from others as well

Elite Athletes Avoid negative thinking Avoid negative people and or conversations Avoid defeatist thinking Become what their thoughts dwell upon. They become what they plant in their mind. SUCCESS

Elite Athletes Are reliable and responsible in training Also outside of the arena of competitive sport

Elite Athletes Don’t alibi No excuses The best is excuse is the one never used

Elite Athletes Lead by example Set the example and standard for others

Elite Athletes Are cooperative with coaches and teammates Are by far the easiest to coach

Elite Athletes Are more durable Injured less than the less successful They believe they are durable and strong

Elite Athletes Are enthusiastic Generate their own enthusiasm Don’t grumble, moan, or complain

Elite Athletes Respond to their coaches While athletes fail tend to be cynical. They believe their coaches are not leading them properly. They are unwilling to be impressed or inspired. This is expected of the phony, the snobbish, the pretenders… but it dooms an athlete when a coach tries to inspire him and he just sits there saying this is a bunch of bull. The elite athlete does not ridicule the capacities and the ideas of the coach

Elite Athletes Are self motivated Understand that only they are in control of themselves so motivation is their responsibility The only real effective motivation is internal motivation.

An elite athlete is a rarity. In order to win, an athlete’s toughest battle is within themselves. If an athlete can DREAM of victory and IMAGINE success, than they can MOTIVATE THEMSELVES.
