Accreditation The Venture Centre is approved by: Isle of Man Dept. for Education. The British Activity Holidays Association. Isle of Man Tourist Board. British Canoe Union Risk assessment approved by Liverpool LA

Transport Transport has been arranged through Travel Services, Isle of Man. Travel to the Isle of Man is via Super SeaCat from Liverpool Pier Head to Douglas. The crossing takes 2hours 30mins. Transport from Douglas to the Venture Centre by coach.

Ferry Arrangements MONDAY 11th June 2012 Children arrive in school by 8.45 am at the latest. We will travel to the Pier Head by coach. Travelling on the 11:15am Ferry (arriving Isle of Man 14:00) Children must have a sensible breakfast before leaving home. Take travel sickness tablets at the appropriate time. Arrangements are in place in case of bad weather.

Ferry Arrangements FRIDAY 15 th June 2012 We are sailing on the 15:30 Ferry Arriving at the Pier head 18:00. PLEASE MEET BY TITANIC MONUMNENT FOR US TO COME UP FROM THE LANDING STAGE - DO NOT GO DOWN ON TO LANDING STAGE. Please provide travel sickness tablets for the return journey. Arrangements are in place in case of bad weather.

Ferry Arrangements CHILDREN WILL NEED A SENSIBLE PACKED LUNCH ON THE MONDAY TO EAT ON THE FERRY. NO FIZZY DRINKS PLEASE!

Accommodation

The dormitories provide sleeping accommodation in 2 and 3 tier bunk beds. Washing facilities are inside or adjacent to the dormitories. Children must have their own sleeping bag and pillow case. Teachers’ and instructors’ rooms are in the same courtyard, all children will be shown where they can find staff rooms.

Medication Copies of Medical forms kept by Mrs Sillifant in school All medication to be clearly marked and handed to Mr Luck on arrival at School along with ‘administration of medicines’ form. Venture Centre staff fully informed about our groups medical requirements. Asthmatic children expected to be responsible for their own inhalers. 2 for the week. Mr Luck will keep spare inhalers.

Luggage You must have a bag that your child is capable of carrying. We will tie a brightly coloured band around your child's handle so that it will be easily identified on the luggage carousel. SEE KIT LIST for full details of clothes Your child needs a Sleeping Bag and a Pillow case A waterproof coat Strong walking shoes Several changes of footwear for wet activities are essential. (e.g Indoor pair, Wet pair, Muddy pair, spare pair) WELLINGTON BOOTS ARE NO USE FOR KYACKING & SAILING BUT ARE USEFUL FOR MUDDY ACTIVITIES ALL ITEMS OF CLOTHING MUST BE CLEARLY MARKED WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME & RUDSTON. CLOTHES ARE TAKEN TO A COMMUNAL DRYING ROOM AND CAN GET MIXED UP AND LOST IF THEY ARE NOT LABELLED

Do not pack in you bag…. Electronics, inc: Mobile phones, CD/ MP3/IPOD etc, Jewellery Additional money Medication – This must be handed to Mr Luck with the ‘administering medicines form’ on arrival at school. MONEY Children are allowed a maximum of £10 to spend in the Tuck Shop. Money should be handed in to Miss Doyle in an envelope when you arrive at school. £5 note and £1 coins please!

And finally… Ensure that your child has all the necessary equipment. Don’t pack goodies! They will be confiscated and disposed of ( or eaten!!) Questions…
