Journalism has been around from the first printing press. America's first newspaper, Publick Occurrences, was published in Boston in 1690 The standard qualification for a journalism career is a bachelor degree in journalism or mass communication’s. Journalists may begin their career training as early as high school, as reporters for their school paper. Summer jobs and internships with newspapers, magazines, and broadcast news organizations offer many budding journalists their first big break

reporters at small papers can expect to earn $20,000 to $30,000; at medium- sized papers, $35,000 to $55,000; and at large papers, $60,000 and up. Editors earn a bit more. It will still be relevant in 10 years things will be different but there are still going to be people that need the news.

bachelor's degree in journalism or mass communications takes four years.

I want to pursue this because I enjoy writing. I love getting the story and revealing information to the public. Being a journalist is exciting you have deadlines. You get to the truth of the matter and get it out there. Journalists are passionate, trustworthy and objective.

New York- major magazine publishers are based here, along with all the big book publishers. Most of the major news networks are also based here. LA- entertainment reporter and, as one of the major cities in the country, it's also home to a number of other media outlets DC- is where our national government is, a center for political reporters. Atlanta- Turner, a media mogul, owns a number of major media companies, including CNN, so there's quite a bit of opportunity.

The strengths I have to be a journalist are Good communication skills, perceptive, Motivational, inspirational; bring out the best in others, affectionate, Fun to be with, sense of humor, loyal and dedicated.

Advantages You meet great many of interesting people, people who are able to tell you something exciting. The possibility to know a lot of different information. The whole world is able to see your name printed under an article. The possibility to see the world, The profession will never be out of demand. Disadvantages The disadvantage of becoming a journalist is starting salary is low. You can get in trouble with the law. You can be asked to write about something you don’t want to, The work sometimes requires many hours, and an unstable schedule.

Only 18% of the stories in an average newspaper are read in full.
