How It’s Powered Biomass- Specifically from land fills. How it works: Methane is the same energy-rich gas that is in natural gas, the fuel sold by natural gas utility companies. Some landfills simply burn the methane gas in a controlled way to get rid of it. But the methane can also be used as an energy source. Landfills can collect the methane gas, treat it, and then sell it as a commercial fuel. It can then be burned to generate steam and electricity.

Green Features of the House Earth Cooling Tubes The new 21 st century green way What does it do: A cooling tube system uses either an open- or closed-loop configuration. In an open-loop system, outdoor air is drawn into the tubes and delivered directly to the inside of the home. This system provides ventilation while hopefully cooling the home's interior. In a closed-loop system interior air circulates through the earth cooling tubes. An alternative is to direct the cooled air from either type of system into a mechanical air conditioning system to reduce the air conditioner's cooling load. Earth Tubes are a vital way to receive LEED points Advantages: More environmentally sound, cheaper in the long run Disadvantages: Expensive, does not work in all environments, and watch for insects and rodents Earth Cooling Tubes can take the place of a water pump or heater.

More Green Features… Bamboo Flooring Environmentally save yet tasteful to the eye Advantages: Can be taken after 3 to 5 years. Easily cleaned, Non-allergenic, Long lasting, can cost up to 50% less then hardwood. Disadvantages: Can’t be taken before about 100 years. Bamboo Flooring can take the place of regular Hardwood trees that take around 100 years to be ready to become flooring. Bamboo Flooring is supported by the LEED rating system.

More Green Features… Green Kitchen Countertops Functional durable and earth friendly How its done: One kind is called Syndcrete Natural cement based, pre cast product, green/sustainable, high recycled content, chemically inert, no off-gassing, aggregates: post consumer bottle glass, tempered glass, wood chips, metal shavings, shells, more. Contributes from 2-8 LEED points. The Materials used can be used towards LEED points. Advantages: Environmentally save. Disadvantages: Can be more expensive and wear easier. Green Kitchen Counter Tops replace regular countertop material like stone or wood.
