Tutoring/Mentoring (EDUC) -Kaleidoscope & WINGS Afterschool Programs: 64 Volunteers/515 Hours -Serves Title 1 schools in Charleston County; Focuses on emotional, social, and academic growth -James Simons Elementary School: 77 Volunteers/234 Hours -A Title 1 School; weekly tutoring; Arts Night and Science Night held at The Citadel -Other Sites: Cannon Street YMCA, Military Magnet Academy, Burke Middle/High Schools, and Mitchell Elementary School 228 Total student volunteers 1,462 Total hours at Tutoring and Mentoring sites
Housing/Food (Poverty) -Arland D. Williams Heroism Day: 135 Volunteers/1350 Hours -Day of service in memory of Arland D. Williams; 11 agencies served by 13 teams -Sea Island Habitat for Humanity: 109 Volunteers/981 Hours -Serves low-income families in need of housing -Other Sites: Charleston Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Crisis Ministries, Low Country Food Bank, The College of Charleston Martin Luther King Jr. Challenge, United Methodist Relief Project 371 Total student volunteers 3, 146 Total hours at Housing/Food sites
Health/Special Needs -Special Olympics Mid-Winter Games: 101 Volunteers/497 Hours -Sports competition for individuals with mental and physical special needs -Charleston Miracle League: 90 Volunteers/342 Hours -Community supported, non-profit baseball league; serves adults and children with mental and physical special needs -Other Sites: Charleston Veterans Affairs Hospital, Down Syndrome Association of the Low Country 211 Total student volunteers 1032 Total hours at Health and Special Needs sites
