Welcome To Room 26 Mrs. Moise’s Fourth Grade Classroom Alvin Dunn Elementary, an International Baccalaurate School

What is an IB school? International Baccalaurate is an established system of education that strives to teach the whole child. It is not just math or reading, but trains children how to navigate within our school, our community, and our world. We believe this structure helps to advance students, and support them throughout their education. It is Inquiry Based education, meaning students are required to ask questions and take responsibility for their learning. Teachers serve as guides, facilitators, and give support as students investigate curricular areas based on the Common Core State Standards. There are overriding themes that challenge students to become responsible citizens and caretakers of our world.

Get To Know Your Teacher Teacher for 17 years Teacher of the Year GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) Certified Trained in GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition) Leadership Teacher for fourth grade Married, with two grown sons Hobbies are gardening, cooking, and reading Animal lover

My Philosophy I believe that students learn best in a structured, cooperative learning environment. I believe that students can reach their highest potential with the collaborative efforts of students, parents, teachers, and support staff. I believe that my role is not only to educate, but to inform, nurture, respect, and build the characters of each individual child I teach. I believe that all students should be granted the right to a positive, engaging, stimulating learning experience.

Technology Alvin Dunn is a One-to-One school, meaning that in most grades, all students will be able to use an electronic device, such as an iPad or iPod. Our classroom has a class set of iPads that we will be using across the curriculum. This year we will have a parent night where your child will be teaching you all about the latest technology. If you would like to follow us on Twitter, follow #ADrm26. See our class website for more info.
