ERN EUROPEAN REFERENCE NETWORK FOR THE TREATMENT OF RARE DISEASES

ERN  By initiative from the European Commission there has been worked on establishing a European Reference network of specialized multidisciplinary treatment of very rare diseasis.

ERN - Financing  As the initiative has been started by the Commission it is at present the impression that financing will be a combination of money from the Commission and from National level.

The aim of our section  To identify rare diseases in our subspecialties suitable for the above mentioned networking  To identify possible multidisciplinary high skilled centres in Europe in our specialty.

ERN - Examples  Treatment of laryngeal stenosis in children. There are few very skilled centres in this area in Europe for instance Great Ormond Street in London  Nordic cooperation on oncologic paediatric treatment among 3 centres established among the Nordic Countries.

Discussion  Let us have some examples of rare diseases.  Give us examples of possible multidisciplinary high specialized centres
