Information technology (IT) is the application of computers, computer network and telecommunications equipment (television, telephone, mobilephones etc.) to present, store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data, information, and knowledge. Several industries are associated with information technology, such as computer hardware, software, electronics, internet, telecom, e-commerce and EDUCATION. Information Technology has played biggest role in promoting and reforming education in the recent past. Information technology has absolutely changed the way we communicate, learn, teach and share our knowledge. Information Technology has given a centralized platform (websites) to the people to share the research, innovation, and discoveries to everyone. It has brought the transparency in the education system and have created millions of jobs. It has promoted open education, e-learning, and distant education. Millions of poor and unprivileged getting benefit of it and polishing their future. What is Information Technology?

Education in its general sense is a form of learning in which the knowledge, skills, and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next through teaching, training, or research. In todays world knowledge is the ‘Power’ and knowledge come from quality of education. It means Education is the power to succeed, lead, invent, and rise. Education is playing the biggest role in reforming our society. We are becoming more and more civilized day by day. Education is playing the key role in removing social evils such as discrimination, corruption, dowry etc. For example, education has brought us together irrespective of our caste, community, religion and color. In the 21 st century education will play the biggest role in building and controlling economy. For Example, USA is buying brain from everywhere across the globe to be to maintain its leadership in world economy. What is Education ?

Following are the components of IT that mainly contribute to the improve the education system: Computer, Printers, CD, LCD, Pen Drives etc. Internet (Search Engines e.g. etc) Recorded audio and video of lectures Communication channels e.g. video conferencing, ing etc. Online availability of study materials (books, articles, etc.) World Wide Web (WWW) and Online learning portals e.g. and Components of IT in Education

To make the study materials available anywhere, anytime To learn, share up-to-date (latest) knowledge To spread the education to remote areas (villages) To bring down the education costs To make the process of learning much more faster, easier and interesting To make the admission, selection, examination etc. processes more cost effective and efficient To bring transparency in education system to remove discrimination Need of IT in education

“Education is the most important part of life” and “Quality of education is equally important” For quality of education, quality of study material such as books, articles etc. and teachers are most important. Last two decade have been marked as “Knowledge Era” due to the advancements in information technology. Variety of learning resources are available anytime anywhere. For example, if we want to read Oxford University material in Delhi, it is available online anytime, from anywhere. Access of online books, libraries, course material, etc. have made students and teachers life easy and smooth. Teacher gets more time to explain through presentation in compare to writing on board and explaining that. Interesting videos about the topic provides the depth of understanding Access to authentic and up to date information Impact of IT in Education

Multiple communication channels such that , forums, blogs, chat etc. have improved the way teacher and students communicate and share knowledge. Distance mode learning have enabled many to get degree while working or earning their livelihood Information technology has played an important role in spreading education everywhere crossing many boundaries (class, caste, villages, cities, countries). Facility of applying online for admission in universities has allowed students from remote area to apply and fulfil their dreams. In short, Information technology has remarkably improved the way we learn, teach, share and apply our knowledge. Impact of IT in Education

Information Technology has totally reformed the way we learn, share and communicate our knowledge. Information technology has played the biggest role in promoting education. Open learning, e-learning, distant education has picked up in the last decade and millions of getting benefitted. Information Technology has brought transparency in education system One of the main reason to get education is to get job and Information technology has created millions of jobs in every field. In this way Information technology has become the most important part in education. Conclusion
