Presentation transcript:

What might be the advantages and disadvantages of a regional model or centers to serve students? Regional centers may be in four or five locations in the state within an hour drive to receive services.

If Iowa had regional centers what would be the advantages and disadvantages of maintaining the campuses at Council Bluffs and/or Vinton? Would their location allow for them to be used as regional centers? Scenario I – ISD as one of the regional centers and the cost associated with four regional centers and maintaining a special school/residential program as one of the regional programs.

Scenario II – IBS as one of the regional centers and the cost associated with four regional centers and maintaining a special school/residential program as one of the regional programs.

Scenario III - IBS and ISD as two of the regional centers and the cost associated with three additional regional centers and maintaining ISD as a special school/residential program as one of the regional programs and the Vinton campus as an additional regional center.

What would be the advantages and disadvantages of continuing to provide services for students who are deaf, hard of hearing or deaf/blind on the campus in Council Bluffs and services for students who are blind, visually impaired or deaf/blind from the campus in Vinton? Costs of maintaining both ISD and the Vinton campus without the creation of additional regional centers (status quo).

What would be the advantages and disadvantages of a single campus being located centrally in the state? These cost would included following: Preschool through 5 th Grade – 7 classrooms/2 storage rooms. Middle School – 7 classrooms/4 storage rooms. High School – 7 classrooms/4 storage rooms. Residential Dormitory – Accommodate 100 children. Note: Annual facility costs are approximately $920,000 per year.

What would be the advantages and disadvantages of a single campus located on the current Iowa Braille School campus in Vinton? These cost would included following: Preschool through 5 th Grade – 7 classrooms/2 storage rooms. Middle School – 7 classrooms/4 storage rooms. High School – 7 classrooms/4 storage rooms. Note: Annual facility costs are approximately $385,000 per year.

What would be the advantages and disadvantages of a single campus located on the current Iowa School for the Deaf campus in Council Bluffs?

What would be the advantages and disadvantages of centralizing the administration and coordination of services for students who are deaf, blind, and hard of hearing, visually impaired or deaf/blind? Central Office Support: Central Administration (1 FTE) Business (3 FTE) Administrative Support (2 FTE) Human Resources (2 FTE) Information Technology (2 FTE)
