JWOC 2009 Short and long term goals

Vision Statement After five years of project development we feel that 2009 should be a focus on program sustainability and taking the groundwork that has been laid and creating strong, impact- based initiatives. We feel the mission of this year is to expand and perfect our current projects as well as support these projects migration to Laos and Myanmar.

Goals Long and short term JWOC goals for projects and the organization as a whole

Scholarship Students - Long Term Goals Make serious impact on the individuals chosen (ie allow students to attend school, support them in finding and getting higher pay, more respected jobs)‏ Help the students be a serious impact on the community (give them roles they can make a difference with, set an example for kids in their homeland, get the students to continue to donate even after they graduate)‏

Take the program to other areas (Laos, Myanmar, as well as other provinces in Cambodia)‏ Have younger JWOC students (English classes) applying and getting scholarships Expand the scholarships to be trade based as well (agricultural, electrical, and other skills that require education outside of B.A. system and are badly needed in the communities JWOC is working in)‏ Maintain enough scholarship students workforce for all projects

2009 Scholarship Goals Keep 50 + students in Cambodia Get up to 8 students in Laos Continue to support 7 students in Myanmar Continue and develop the mentor system Develop an impact assessment for all students Develop a career counseling program to highlight different career paths and show students options

Schools- Long Term Goals Provide a range of classes that educate and stimulate. Expand to classes above and beyond language classes (ie art, music, sewing, volunteer class) and see the effects in the community Develop a clear system for the language school so students can earn certificates of completion Provide quality education- trained teachers/ quality supplies/ books and equipment needed

School Goals for 2009 Equip the classes for success Teacher training & support Create entrance testing and completion certificate Add more classes

Clean Water- Long term Goals To create long term clean water solutions. This includes putting in clean water wells, well testing, how to use clean water and well maintenance.

Clean Water 2009 goals Develop Well Maintenance program Improve ability to track wells Support and work with WestPoint to develop a successful hygiene seminar Train scholarship students in hygiene program Reintroduce water testing

Micro-loan Long term goals Have loan products that are beneficial to borrowers, families, & communities. Create a system that is sustainable for JWOC Tie into other programs (ie kids must attend class/ larger loans require meeting more requirements Offer seminars and support for loan recipients Have a clear impact assessment for individuals, family, and community

Micro-loan Short term goals Develop and implement impact assessments Overhaul the system in line with goals set forth by Andy, Camilla, and Hassan: Increased efficiency on both lending and collecting Training students so they understand the program, so they benefit the program and the program benefits them

JWOC CC Long term goals JWOC help desk- a place the community could go to get help...business advice, kids in school, translation Offer info & advice to travelers who want to give Business seminars for loan recipients and community Movie nights and other community get-togethers Set a positive example for the community – clean, environmentally friendly, safe...

Community Center Short term goals Finish grounds and classrooms Information station Movie nights- intermission and pre view lessons Increase local communities knowledge of JWOC

JWOC Goals Develop and have procedures written down and presented so hand-overs do not hurt projects Have a powerful and up to date website with layers of information from basic to detailed Develop mail list Consistent newsletters Develop a fund-raising strategy
