(Tahlia and Mabel are SUPA!!!)

CPU CPU mean central process unit A central process is the carries out the instructions to computer programming

RAM Random-access memory RAM is made up of small memory chips that form a memory module. These modules are installed in the RAM slots on the motherboard of your computer. A form of data storage

ROM Read-only memory (ROM) refers to a storage technology that allows you to write data only once. After the data has been written, you can read it an unlimited number of times. Contrast this with random- access memory (RAM) that allows you to read and write data as many times as needed.

Hard Drive The computer's main storage media device used to permanently store all data on the computer. Also referred to as a hard disk drive or abbreviated as HD or HDD.

Floppy Drive device that reads magnetic data from a floppy disc.

CD-ROM Compact Disc-Read-Only Memory, a type of optical disk capable of storing large amounts of data

Power Supply Also called a power supply unit or PSU, the component that supplies power to a computer.

Mother Board The motherboard is the main circuit board of your computer and is also known as the mainboard or logic board.

Fan/ Heat sink dissipates the heat from the processor, preventing it from overheating

Video Card A common term for "display adapter," which is a printed circuit board that generates the images for the computer's screen.

Network Interface Card Often abbreviated as NIC, an expansion board you insert into a computer so the computer can be connected to a network. Most NICs are designed for a particular type of network

VGA Abbreviated VGA, it is a standard type of connection for video devices such as monitors and projectors. Generally, it refers to the types of cables, ports and connectors used to connect monitors to video cards.

IN/OUT ports An interface on a computer to which you can connect a device. Personal computers have various types of ports.

USB provides a serial bus standard for connecting devices, usually to a computer, but it also is in use on other devices such as set-top boxes, game consoles and PDAs.

Mouse a hand-operated electronic device that controls the coordinates of a cursor on your computer screen as you move it around

Keyboard In computing, a keyboard is an input device, partially modeled after the typewriter keyboard, which uses an arrangement of buttons or keys, to act as mechanical levers or electronic switches.

Ethernet a type of network technology for local area networks; coaxial cable carries radio frequency signals between computers at a rate of 10 megabits per second

Printer In computing, a printer is a peripheral which produces a hard copy (permanent readable text and/or graphics) of documents stored in electronic form, usually on physical print media such as paper or transparencies
