Meet The Bah Family Representative Family in West Africa Gidado (father), Alti (mother) & their four children Daana, Hammadi, Mariama, and Samma.

The Bah family live in the village of Feyi in central Mali.

For years, the Bah family and their community have made their living raising goats, cows, sheep, and poultry. The women supplement this livelihood by weaving and selling mats.

It is a traditional way of life, with many generations living side-by-side

The way of life is also challenging. Young girls must walk and fetch water several times a day. Diseases are common, while access to healthcare is limited and household incomes are very low.

World Renew and its partners support the Bah family through programs to improve health, increase incomes, and encourage literacy.

Recently, through a United States Millennium Challenge grant, the entire community of Feyi was moved to a new location. Here is the Bah family’s new house and yard.

As part of the grant, the residents of Feyi have also received land to garden. This is a huge change for these nomadic herders, but World Renew is supporting them in this transition.

The family is recognizing opportunities in their new setting. Gidado packed and sold snacks to construction workers who built the new village.

Now that the village is done, Gidado has purchased a storefront where he’ll start doing business.

The children are also now able to attend school

World Renew is working with parents to remind them of the importance of children’s education and to equip them to speak up on their children’s behalf

The lives of the Bah family are changing. Through your support and the Free A Family® program, World Renew is walking alongside of them during this transition and equipping them for their future.

When you decide to partner with the Free a Family program, you get the opportunity to connect with a real family that World Renew is working with - to celebrate their success, join them in challenges, and support them with your prayers.
