 Founding Americans shared belief systems of European ancestors  Europeans influenced by Christian Church  Early Christian Church was influenced by the Ancient Romans  As a result of this, Western Society is heavily influenced by the church

 We are taught to be polite to superiors  Don’t harm others  Don’t take what isn’t yours  Be faithful to your spouse  Treat everyone equally  Value of hard work  Acceptance of Others

 Ten commandments Honor thy father and mother (Superiors) Do not Murder (Harm) Do not Steal Do not commit adultery  Teachings of Jesus “Golden Rule” (Equality)

 Our nation was founded by Christians and/or at least those in contact with the Christian faith  As a result of this the Christian faith had a huge impact on the values in America  And whether one believes in the Bible or not, it cannot be denied that nothing has been more influential to the Western world

 Religions are part of our everyday life  Radical Muslims are the reason we have soldiers in the Middle East  Northern Ireland & Ireland have been at conflict because the differences between Protestants and Catholics.  Jews and Muslims have been fighting over Jerusalem for over 2000 years

 It is impossible to prove one way or the other if our beliefs are a result nurture or nature. If we know what is right and wrong regardless, or if it is a result of the society around us.  All religions play a profound role world wide
