Thematic Unit Approach: Key Steps (Cooper-Duffy et al) 1. Team selects a theme or topic and design an age-appropriate unit 2. Familiarize yourself with interests, strengths, needs, and IEP goals of children in the class. 3. Specify learning objectives, materials, and lesson sequence. 4. Select key vocabulary and concepts. 5. Adapt the vocabulary, concepts, and materials using AT to support participation. 6. Plan systematic instructional procedures. 7. Evaluate progress.

Use of Task Analysis Task analysis is a process by which a task is broken down into its component parts. The Browder example illustrates the use of a task analysis listing the steps for the STUDENT as well as the steps for the TEACHER Using a task analysis and associated data collection form ensures consistency and fidelity of the planned instructional program (including planned prompting systems).
